IT Security Engineer

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 4-8 Years

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Security Infrastructure Setup: Design, deploy, and maintain security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus software, encryption mechanisms, and other security tools. 

Vulnerability Assessment: Conduct regular security assessments, including vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and risk analysis, to identify potential security weaknesses in systems and networks. 

Incident Response: Develop and implement incident response plans to address security breaches or incidents promptly. Investigate security breaches and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 

Security Policies and Procedures: Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS). 

Security Monitoring: Monitor security logs and alerts for suspicious activities or security breaches. Respond to security incidents in real-time and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks. 

Security Awareness Training: Provide security awareness training to employees, contractors, and other stakeholders to educate them about cybersecurity best practices and promote a security-conscious culture within the organization. 

Security Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant cybersecurity regulations and standards. Keep abreast of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends to adapt security measures accordingly. 

Security Architecture Review: Review and assess the security architecture of existing and proposed IT systems, applications, and infrastructure to identify potential security gaps and recommend improvements. 

Security Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of security configurations, policies, procedures, incident reports, and other relevant security-related information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Proven experience working in cybersecurity roles, with a focus on security engineering, network security, or information security. 

Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, technologies, and best practices. 

Proficiency in security tools and technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, SIEM solutions, antivirus software, encryption methods, etc. 

Experience with network protocols, TCP/IP, routing, and switching. 

Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS) and industry standards (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework). 

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are a plus. 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write emails, speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and clients.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals quickly and correctly.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
